Everyone who travels must begin somewhere. And while you could visit any country on the planet for your first overseas vacation, there are some locations that are probably preferable for beginners.

Travelling sounds intimidating if you’re not familiar with a specific destination. However, we’re here to remind you to step out of your comfort zone and discover all the wonderful places in the globe that are perfect for first-time travellers. Life, as they say, begins when your comfort zone ends! So take this as a message from the universe encouraging you to GO OUT THERE.

When it comes to travelling, we all want it to be as smooth sailing as possible. To ensure that, consider the following when choosing a destination:

  1. Always check the country's safety before travelling there, especially if it is your first time. You can look for statistics on crime and other data about the country.

  2. To make it simpler for you to get around and ask questions or discover things, pick a nation where people either speak your original tongue or English is widely spoken.

  3. Choose a welcoming country. For instance, it contains street maps and simple-to-follow public transit itineraries.

Rome

A nation with as much spectacular natural beauty and history as Italy should unquestionably be at the top of your list. Although Italy has many lovely towns to see, we personally suggest beginning in Rome, which was once the centre of one of the world's oldest civilizations. This naturally explains the numerous attractions Rome has to offer.

Also, you must not overlook Italian cuisine, which alone should excite you to travel to Italy. But, as everyone has various interests, the Amalfi Coast is also a fantastic choice for people who prefer the outdoors and lounging by the shore.

TAKE NOTE: Remarkably quiet in the winter and spring, if you want to see Italy in a less hectic and touristic way.

London

The largest city in the UK and one of the most visited cities in the world is London, which is next on the list. Whether it is due to its history, museums, boutiques, or cuisine, London is without a doubt on every traveller's wish list. In addition to all of this, English is the primary language in London and the United Kingdom. Therefore if you speak English, you won't have any communication issues. For those who are new to travel, it is a perfect place to start!

TAKE NOTE: UK is no longer a member of the European Union, it is not eligible for the Schengen Visa and requires a separate type of visa. US passport holders are however exempt from visa requirements.

Thailand

Thailand is a must-visit country with several lovely attractions and beautiful culture. Thailand receives over 20 million visitors annually from all over the world. It is regarded as one of the top vacation spots for first-time travellers. Thailand is not only very beautiful but also inexpensive and ideal for travellers.

You can begin your journey by spending some time in Bangkok learning about Thai culture and urban life. When you're ready to see a different side of Thailand, go to Phuket to experience the crazy island lifestyle.

Dubai UAE

For travellers with a somewhat larger budget, Dubai is well-known as a top choice. Yet, that does not imply that you must spend a fortune to travel to Dubai. It is true that Dubai is a highly opulent city with enormous buildings, dreamy vehicles, and a seemingly endless number of shopping centres.

However, it offers a lot more, particularly in the winter. The summertime climate is often hot and dry. Because of this, summer is the ideal season for indoor activities. In case you were wondering, even though Arabic is the native tongue of the city, English is the language of choice here.

Seoul, South Korea

While the largest tourist sites in Asia (Tokyo and Hong Kong) are unquestionably worthwhile, Seoul, South Korea's capital city, is a fantastic alternative for first-timers to consider—and it's a bit cheaper than places like Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

In Seoul, you'll find a well-developed transportation system that serves both locals and visitors equally well (the city's sophisticated subway system is the best way to get around), as well as dependable trains and buses if you wish to travel outside of the city. The architecture is a fascinating blend of traditional structures, such as old palaces and towns, and a modern cityscape.

TAKE NOTE: American citizens do not need a visa to enter the nation, and while speaking a little English will get you by in Seoul, it won't help you much out in the countryside. The cuisine is also affordable and tasty.

Well, there you have it! A list of countries you can visit this holiday season. Of course, just because a country isn't on this list doesn't always imply it isn't an excellent choice for a first visit. You can visit any country you like! Just make sure to do plenty of research beforehand. Happy travelling!
