I Tried This Butter Cake Recipe : Here's My Opinion

What’s the one thing you can eat every single day of your life and not get sick of it?

For me, it's butter cakes.

Growing up, my mother used to buy us butter cakes from this bakery and they tasted amazing! So soft, moist, and buttery. I can still taste them in my mouth.

Unfortunately, the bakery closed down and up till today I am still on a hunt to find a cake that is remotely similar to theirs. I’ve tried several different recipes and gone to multiple bakeries, but I could not find the perfect butter cake. They were either too dry, too sweet, or too hard. Why is it so difficult to get a butter cake that is perfect?

One day, I was craving that butter cake (not just any butter cake, but THAT butter cake) to the point I ranted about it to my close friend who happened to be in my apartment that night.

‘My mum makes the best cakes in the world. You should try hers!’ she said.

Now, obviously, I had to ask her for her mum’s recipe. Is it really the best? Let me be the judge of that.

She ultimately gave me the recipe, and of course, I had to drop by the store that weekend to shop for the ingredients. I was quite eager, but I tried not to get my expectations up in case I get disappointed.

So, I get my groceries, headed back home, and started baking my cake. The steps were pretty straightforward. I was done in an hour.

Final Verdict: The cake came out of the oven looking golden and beautiful, just ready to be eaten. I set it aside for it to cool down for a bit. Half an hour later, I dug right in! The cake was delicious! It tasted exactly like the one I had when I was a kid. Where was this recipe all my life?! The cake was so moist, it basically melted in my mouth. Every bite was filled with soft buttery goodness. If you love butter cake as much as I do, you have to try this! I’ll share the recipe here.

Ingredients

  1. 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  2. 2 teaspoons baking powder

  3. ½ teaspoon salt

  4. 1 cup white sugar

  5. ½ cup butter, room temperature

  6. 2 large eggs, room temperature

  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  8. ¾ cup milk, room temperature

How To Bake The Perfect Butter Cake?

Step 1: Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan lightly and cover the bottom with wax or parchment paper or gently sprinkle with flour.

Step 2: In a large container, sift the flour, salt, and baking powder together.

Step 3: Using an electric mixer, combine sugar and butter in a large bowl and beat until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Mix in the vanilla essence.

Step 4: Pour batter into the prepared pan and add milk in 1/2 cup portions, alternating with the flour mixture. Beat batter just until mixed after each addition.

Step 5: Bake for about 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for ten minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to finish cooling.

There you go! The perfect butter cake. Isn’t it easy? Whether you're having guests over or simply making dessert for yourself, butter cakes are a fantastic choice. Trust me when I say this recipe will be a hit! Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
